Hi, I’m Duncan Cameron.
Maybe you want to learn guitar for the first time. Maybe you played as a teen and then, “grew up". Whatever the case I want to help you realize your goals.
I have been a performer and teacher for the last 25 years. As a performer I have released 6 albums, played on many more, and opened for the likes of James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, Fishbone, G-Love & Special Sauce and numerous others. As a teacher I have taught privately and at the same performing arts high school that I attended. My goal is to provide a strong musical foundation for students and use their interests and goals as the guiding light for our lessons.
My Approach
It all begins with what you want to learn. I craft my lessons around each individual students goals. No cookie cutter programs here. If you want to go through a book, just learn songs or get the full experience it’s all up to you.
Music is a language and I teach it as a second language. You probably learned to talk before you could read and write correct? That’s my take on instruction. I get you listening and playing first, then we approach the theory & analysis.
I teach you to become a musician, not just a guitar player. You will learn concepts that are not only transferable to any instrument, but also to other aspects of your life. I truly believe that the sensitivity, openness, and dedication you cultivate as an artist are skills that will help expand your universe.
“I went into lessons with Duncan already familiar with the basics and he has taken that an ran with it. Each lesson he checks in on the previous week of work and helps connect the dots on things that didn’t stick throughout practicing during the week. He’s patient when you’re learning something for the first time and very easy to get along with. I look forward to my lesson each week and I can already feel the knowledge of the fretboard expanding after several weeks. I’d highly recommend trying his lessons out!

“The real life experience and professionalism that Mr. Cameron brought to the experience were in invaluable and I’m sure will play a large part in my overall development. Kudos to Mr. Cameron.”

“I’ve had weekly lessons with him for almost two months and it is one of the highlights of my week. He is patient and great about checking in on my goals/pain points which makes me feel like I am in total control of my journey and soothed my nerves around being an adult beginner. I feel comfortable showing up with the progress I have/haven’t made between lessons and constantly feel motivated to keep learning and practicing.”
